Microsoft 365 Copilot for Everyday Work
Learn to use Microsoft 365 Copilot for the work you already do: your inbox, your meetings, your documents, your spreadsheets and your slides. Choose your role at the start, and practise on the emails, chats, meeting notes and files that someone in that role would have at a made-up insurance company. Then try the same tasks in your own Copilot if your employer provides it. You learn how to ask clearly, how to check every answer against its source, and what Copilot can see, so you do not share what you should not. You finish with a weekly routine, ten tested prompts for your role, one small agent for a task you repeat, and a log of the time you saved. All practice data is made up. Alset is not affiliated with Microsoft.
"I know which Copilot to use for each part of my week, I ask for what I need in a way that works the first time, I check every answer against its source, and I can show the time I saved"
6 Interactive Sessions
Short, interactive sessions: watch it work, try it, then build it yourself. You can go deeper at any time in the written chapters.
- 1
What Copilot can see and do
Microsoft 365 Copilot answers from your work: your email, chats, meetings and files. That makes it useful, and it means it can find anything you are allowed to open, including files that were shared too widely. Know which Copilot to use for which job, and which jobs stay with you.
- 2
Asking for what you need
A vague request gets a vague answer. Say what you want, why, which source to use, and how the answer should look, and Copilot gets it right the first time far more often. When it does not, fix the answer with a follow-up instead of starting again.
- 3
Email and meetings
Most of a working week goes on email and meetings. Copilot can sort an inbox, summarise a long thread, draft a reply and recap a meeting. Each one saves time only if you check what it left out.
- 4
Documents and slides
Copilot is best at a first draft built from files you already have. You give it the sources and the shape, then trace every figure and claim back to where it came from before anyone else reads it.
- 5
Working with numbers
Copilot in Excel can answer plain questions about a table, write a formula and make a chart. It can also pick a measure you did not mean, or get a sum wrong. Ask how it worked the answer out, and check a sample by hand.
- 6
Agents, multi-step tasks and safe use
Agents and multi-step help can do more of a task for you. The more they do, the more it matters what they read and what they are allowed to send. You finish with one small agent, five rules for using Copilot at work, and a time-saved log.
Skills you'll practise
Practice data included
- Corriwell Home Insurance (made up), the week of 2 November 2026, from one of six roles
- Each role's mailbox, team chats, meeting transcripts and files
- A practice assistant that answers only from that role's data and shows its sources
- A practice-file pack to try the same tasks in your own Copilot
How this certificate is scored
Your certificate shows how many of your written answers met the rubric below, checked by an AI grader. Anyone who checks your certificate sees it.
- You answer 6 short questions, one for each module, in your own words (at least 40 words each).
- An AI grader checks each answer against what its module asks for: it must answer the question, use the course's practice case specifically, and be correct.
- To pass, at least 5 of the 6 answers must meet that bar. The certificate says the answers were graded by AI.
The rubric
- Module 1, What Copilot can see and do: A map of your week: which tasks go to Copilot Chat, to Copilot in an app, or stay with you, and a check of what Copilot can see for you.
- Module 2, Asking for what you need: Ten tested prompts for your role, each with a goal, the context, the source and the format.
- Module 3, Email and meetings: A morning routine: inbox sorted, a thread summarised, a reply drafted, a meeting prepared and a recap checked against the transcript.
- Module 4, Documents and slides: Your role's document and a short deck from the practice files, with every figure traced to its source.
- Module 5, Working with numbers: Three questions answered from your role's spreadsheet, one chart, and every number checked by hand.
- Module 6, Agents, multi-step tasks and safe use: One small agent for a task you repeat, five rules for using Copilot at work, and a time-saved log.
