A chat AI can describe what is in a photo: the size and colour of a stain, a tide mark, flaking paint, where it sits in the room. It cannot see what is behind the ceiling, smell it, feel it or measure it. It does not know the age of the house or what the pipes are made of unless you tell it. Treat what it says about a photo as a first guess.
Ms Rivera sends Tom a photo: a brown stain about the size of a dinner plate on the kitchen ceiling, right under the bath.
It got bigger after the weekend, when the family had guests and the bath was used a lot. The ceiling feels damp to the touch. No drips.
Tom wants to arrive with a plan. A chat AI can help him think it through, as long as he treats its answer as a list to test.
